Car Boot Sales

Car Boot Sales always fascinate me.  Well not the sale itself, but the poeple it attracts.
I've just spent the morning in the next Village, Harby, helping out at the car boot and the proceeds from this sale go to the Friends of Queen Eleanor Primary School, of which I am chair!  The field is opened at 7am by the catering van, then a few others start coming in from then.  The "helpers" arrive at 7.30am, to assist in parking the booters and parking the punters.   The disabled carpark is a hoot!  You direct them to a space and they say "haven't you got anything closer" then they get out of their car and walk round the boot field!  We then stand in the entrance rattling a bucket for carpark donations - well, the amount of people that put their foot down to get passed you quicker, or they look the other way just so they dont have to give you a little change.  Then you get the other side of the coin and they empty their pockets into your bucket and give you a couple of quid!  We do this in both car park entrances/exits and the disabled one is a bit dodgey as they would rather run you over than give a few pennies! This of course doesn't mean "ALL" of them. In the main carpark, I did have a good chuckle at one car today - I dont know what type of car it was but it was fully loaded with spoiler kits and in my opinion looked silly!  Anyway, he put his foot down to get to the exit quickly and the driver and his female passenger looked straight ahead so we wouldn't see them(!) then they got to the end of the field, but.... the entrance is in need of repair and he hit his front spoiler on the tarmac then grounded the rear spoiler - if only he had emptied his pockets he would have had a little more clearance!
