4 left

Tonight I had to have one of our chicks put down. The neighbours cat had got in the enclosure and mawled one and took one. If I had got there 20 seconds earlier I think I could have got the cat. The mother hen was making such a noise - she is stressed.

The little one that was left had a puncture wound to her tummy and a broken leg.

The remaining chicks have been shut up in a different shed for the night and I will have to make another pen with a roof tomorrow morning. I would have thought a 8 foot fence would have been hard to get in, but once they have tasted blood and know where they are it will be back. Shame the dog couldn't get in.

Sam and Beth are upset at the loss of two chicks.
