Woahh that was big. Just before 1am today we were woken up by the house shaking and it was shaking. Turned on the radio 5 minutes later and they were talking about Grimsby and villages around. They never confirmed it being a quake, but surely it has to be.
It certainly has shaken me up and it woke Sam up who thought he had a nightmare.

The 2008 Lincolnshire Earthquake struck the United Kingdom on 27 February 2008, and registered a reading of 5.3 on the Richter Scale according to various sources. The earthquake, which occurred at 00:56:45 GMT, according to the British Geological Survey, was centred on the village of Holton cum Beckering, about 15 miles north-east of Lincoln. The epicentre has been estimated at a depth of 2 to 16 km,typical of the majority of earthquakes.
The tremors were felt across a wide area of England, from Hampshire in the south, to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north and as far west as Manchester, the areas where the earthquake is believed to have been felt the strongest is Lincoln and Nottingham. Structural damage has been recorded in some areas, including 2 cases where chimneys have collapsed and injured residents.
The tremor is of a larger magnitude than that of the 2002 Dudley earthquake, an incident which registered as 4.7 on the Richter Scale, making it the largest earthquake to affect the UK since the 1984 Lleyn Peninsula earthquake, which measured 5.4
Shortly following the earthquake the U.S. Geological Survey and the British Geological Survey advised aftershocks were likely, although in a live interview later on a USGS spokesman stated it was highly unlikely an aftershock would occur. A first aftershock was recorded less than two hours after the initial quake at a magnitude of 1.8
